"Chevrier et al. describe a new family of phosphonium functionalized polythiophenes, and the advantages of phosphonium versus ammonium charges are illustrated, thus broadening our awareness of novel ionic functionalities. Moreover, this manuscript catalyzes a discussion on the performance of perfluorinated surfactants, and recent efforts across the world are addressing the environmental consequences of perfluorinated surfactants. Opportunities are abundant to discover new families of charged polymers and surfactants, this interdisciplinary article represents many emerging topics in polymer science and engineering."
