HEALTH ECONOMICS EDITORIAL BOARD STATEMENT ON THE JOURNAL’S ROLE DURING A PANDEMIC
While COVID-19 will affect individuals and communities in various ways, the effects of the pandemic as well as actions taken to address it are likely to be highly relevant for the Health Economics community. The Editorial Board of Health Economics is issuing this statement to help our submitting authors and readers understand what we feel is the best role for the journal in these unprecedented times. We envision a long-term role in contributing to an understanding of the effects of the pandemic as well as the effectiveness or value of important policy initiatives to reduce the social and economic costs, including impacts on inequalities, of future similar events. We welcome submission of research manuscripts, Health Economics Letters, or editorials to achieve this long-term goal. While we do not plan to implement a process to fast-track all COVID-19 submissions, we pledge to provide expeditious initial review of all COVID-19 submissions during this challenging period and beyond.
To highlight our continuing commitment to this type of work, you can see articles on pandemics published in Health Economics prior to 2020 in this Virtual Issue.
We are excited to announce that Tinna Ásgeirsdóttir will be joining Andrew Briggs, Bruce Hollingsworth, David Bradford and Sally Stearns as a Co-Editors of Health Economics.
