Expressions of interest are invited for the provision of the services of an Editorial Team to take over the editorship of Sociology of Health and Illness from 1 October 2024. Teams may be drawn from a single or more than one university. The university(s) and editorial team must be UK-based.

The Editorial Board of Sociology of Health and Illness offers an annual prize for the best article published by a novice writer. When the Journal was first conceived in 1979, one of its stated aims was the encouragement of new authors and less-experienced medical sociologists. The prize furthers this aim and is made possible through the generosity of the Foundation for the Sociology of Health and Illness.

In support of the Black Lives Matter action in recent weeks, Sociology of Health and Illness Editorial Team and Wiley have pulled together 20 of our articles that focus on race and ethnicities in healthcare and made these free to all and available via one link for ease of access. Together with our Editorial Board, we are currently working on a range of initiatives to encourage and support further submissions that examine race and ethnicity in healthcare as well as submissions from BAME sociologists working on any area of health and illness.

While we continue to make every effort to progress submissions over the summer, we hope you understand that reviewers and editors often take annual leave in August and this can delay responses to submissions.
