A Message to Our Readers, Authors, and Reviewers
We recognize that the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting everyone’s daily lives and the global research community in unprecedented ways. Although some research activities are slowly resuming, many institutions remain closed, with researchers working from home under unusual circumstances. Our editorial teams also continue to work remotely.
Throughout these challenging times, we aim to support our scientific community in any way possible. Given the possible disruption of experimental work, we kindly ask our reviewers to bear in mind that some experiments may presently be hard to carry out. Now more than ever, it is important to mention clearly which suggestions you consider to be essential. We are aware that authors and reviewers are doing their best to revise and review manuscripts given these circumstances and should you need extra time, please contact the corresponding editorial office without hesitation.
Please accept the best wishes of our editorial teams for your ongoing health and wellbeing.

-  127-127
-  20 April 2021
Abstract
Fuel Cells – From Fundamentals to Systems publishes on all aspects of fuel cells, ranging from their molecular basis including theory and with molecular processes at catalyst surfaces and microscopic processes in membranes to their application in systems such as power plants, road vehicles and power sources in portables. It includes electrochemical energy technology as in energy conversion and storage with batteries, supercapacitors and electrolytic processes. Fuel Cells is a platform for scientific exchange in a diverse interdisciplinary field. All related work in chemistry, physics, materials science, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering is included.

Proton exchange membrane fuel cell degradation model based on catalyst transformation theory
-  29 March 2021
Abstract
A novel PEMFC catalyst degradation model is developed based on the catalyst transformation theory. In this model, the Pt catalyst degrades by changing form and size according to the transformation theory, which includes Pt dissolution and Ostwald ripening mechanisms. The advantage of this new model is that the transformation of every Pt particle is calculated directly, and the characteristics of every particle are considered, thus it can give more accurate catalyst degradation process.
