Distinct characteristics of MetALD (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease with greater alcohol consumption) in the general population Issue ,

MetALD is a new terminology for patients with MASLD consuming significant but moderate amount of alcohol. MetALD is on the spectrum of steatotic liver disease, but it is not known whether it is similar to either of MASLD or ALD in its characteristics. MetALD exhibited distinct characteristics from MASLD in terms of higher daily total energy and fat intake, and worse cardiometabolic risk factors except for hyperHDL-cholesterolemia - rather similar to those of alcohol related liver disease.

Risk model for predicting failure to rescue after hepatectomy: Cohort study of 1371 consecutive patients Issue ,

This study investigated the association between age and failure to rescue (FTR) and develop a risk model for FTR following hepatectomy. Our risk model including age and American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status can be clinically relevant and useful for predicting FTR after hepatectomy.
