International Journal of Developmental Neuroscience publishes research spanning fundamental and clinical aspects of nervous system development, renewal, regeneration, and the impact of genetic and environmental factors on brain development and neurodevelopmental disorders. We encourage studies on stem cell involvement in nervous system health, neurodegenerative disease investigation, neuroinflammation, and neuroevolution. The journal serves as a valuable resource for biologists and physicians, supported by The International Society for Developmental Neuroscience.

Oxidative stress and apoptosis of the spinal cord in a rat model of retinoic acid‐induced neural tube defects

Graphical Abstract

Oxidative stress and apoptosis of the spinal cord in a rat model of retinoic acid-induced neural tube defects Issue ,

Our findings reveal heightened oxidative stress and elevated apoptosis in the spinal cord of embryos with NTDs, suggesting these factors contribute significantly to the pathophysiology of NTDs. This research enhances understanding of NTDs' molecular basis, offering potential avenues for intervention to mitigate these devastating conditions in human pregnancies.

Ascorbic acid supplementation in adolescent rats ameliorates anxiety-like and depressive-like manifestations of nicotine-ethanol abstinence: Role of oxidative stress, inflammatory, and serotonergic mechanisms Issue ,

Adolescent male rats were divided 7 groups: 1) vehicle, 2) Nicotine (Nic)-Ethanol (Eth), 3-5) Nic-Eth-Vit C 100/200/400, 6) Nic-Eth-Bupropion (Bup)- Naloxone (Nal) and 7) Vit C 400mg/kg. Behavioral assessments were done by EPM, FST, MBT, and OFT. Furthermore, specific biochemical variables associated with oxidative, inflammatory, and serotonergic profiles were quantified.

Graphical Abstract

Investigation of chromosomal anomalies and copy number variations in children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder by array CGH method Issue ,

This study aimed to identify the chromosomal anomalies and copy number variations (CNVs) in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and to provide genotype/phenotype correlations. This shows aCGH images of patients with pathogenic or likely pathogenic changes: (a) 70 kb copy number loss in region 22q13.33; (b) 10.1 Mb copy number gain in region 15q13.2q13.3; (c) 6.3 Mb copy number gain in region 3p22.3p22.2; (d) 699 kb copy number gain in region 15q11.2q12; and (e) 500 kb copy number loss in region 15q11.2.
