Forthcoming Special Issues

Strain Engineering in Semiconductor Materials
Guest edited by Costanza L. Manganelli, Davide Spirito, Andrea De Iacovo, Jacopo Frigerio, Patricio Farrell, Damiano Marian and Michele Virgilio

The Special Issue aims to contributions that span the diverse landscape of strain engineering within semiconductor physics. This encompasses both the theoretical foundations and experimental investigations into the effects of strain on semiconductor materials, including the pioneering techniques for fabricating strained layers and nanostructures. Significant emphasis is placed on studies that reveal how strain modifies the electronic band structure and enhances carrier mobility, as well as on the innovative design and thorough characterization of devices that leverage these strained semiconductors. We are equally interested in research that examines strain dynamics in two-dimensional materials, heterostructures and perovskites, with an eye towards their integration into optoelectronic, photonic, and quantum computing applications.
