This cover image by Haoping Peng, Jiaxin Li, and Zhiwei Li shows the morphology of the new core-shell flame retardant PMDOPO dispersed in rigid polyurethane foam. PMDOPO is well dispersed in the foam. During the combustion process, it helps RPUF to form a dense carbon layer on the surface, achieving the effect of flame retardant and smoke suppression. In addition, PMDOPO forms support inside the foam pores and disperses the stress. The foam also has good mechanical properties. DOI: 10.1002/app.54649

Polyurethane chain extenders with disulphide and imine bonds were synthesized using a Schiff base reaction design. When defects such as scratches or fractures occur in polyurethane materials, the disulphide and imine bonds contained therein undergo exchange reactions at room or high temperatures, facilitating the breaking, and formation of old and new bonds.

n-Octadecane-loaded microcapsules with MF-TiO2 hybrid shell containing different amounts of TiO2 nanoparticles are prepared and characterized. When loaded with 2 wt.% TiO2 nanoparticles, microcapsules have the maximum rupture load and the improvement percentage in rupture load is as high as 138.14%. The addition of 2 wt.% TiO2 nanoparticles also reduces the supercooling degree and enhances the thermal stability.
