Message transmission techniques for low traffic P2P services
- Pages: 1105-1122
- First Published: 20 April 2009
This paper proposes 4 message transmission strategies, MNB, M2T, M3T and HMT, in P2P networks. Different from flooding with high traffic loading, these strategies provide low traffic loading and high network coverage. They are easy to be applied in distributed and unstructured P2P overlay networks. The performance evaluation shows the proposed methods are successful in reducing network traffic. A novel service evolution approach for active services in ubiquitous computing
- Pages: 1123-1151
- First Published: 16 April 2009
Services having functionality overlapping with user requirements are important reusable assets. This paper achieves both partial and entire reuse of them with the composition plans and based on a functionality index. Experimental results demonstrate the usability and superiority of the proposed approach in terms of computation cost, success rate and service quality. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
Secure ubiquitous connectivity in hybrid multipath wireless ad hoc network
- Pages: 1153-1176
- First Published: 20 May 2009
This paper presents a secure framework for ubiquitous connectivity in hybrid multipath wireless ad hoc network that provides not only secure foreign agent discovery and mobile IP registration for a mobile node but also secure route discovery by finding multiple alternative paths. Our proposed framework experiences higher packet delivery ratio and lower average packet delay than other existing schemes. It can be seen that the overall performance of the proposed framework is better than the existing ones. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
A robust certification service for highly dynamic MANET in emergency tasks
- Pages: 1177-1197
- First Published: 29 April 2009
The concept of mission‐specific certificate with partition‐tolerant mechanism is proposed for the management of public keys in Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET). This will enhance the security of communications over MANET. The scheme can effectively improve the availability of the Mission‐specific Certificate Authority (MCA) for the issuance and/or revocation of mission‐specific certificate. Deploying a voice capture sensor network system for a secure ubiquitous home environment
- Pages: 1199-1212
- First Published: 05 May 2009
A novel approach for voice capture in wireless sensor network is presented. The approach is based on reducing data redundancy while maintaining node redundancy for reliability. This approach is further validated with a deployment of a voice capture sensor network oriented for smart home environments. Through our experiments, we show that our approach is energy‐efficient compared to the traditional capture‐and‐send approach. Furthermore, we provide a roadmap for developing efficient voice capture sensor networks. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
Adaptive secure multicast in wireless networks
- Pages: 1213-1239
- First Published: 09 June 2009
Proposed a framework of adaptive secure multicast framework for wireless networks based on the proposed primitive multi‐recipient generalized signcryption firstly. The framework provides separate or joint privacy and authenticity according to users' identities and requirements transparently, and has the ability to aggregate multiple unicast besides the common multicast service. Then designed a practical scheme called MGSC‐GDH, which is semantic secure and more efficient than other similar schemes in computational and communicational aspects.
