A rational strategy for preparing optically active alternating peptides with a controlled secondary structure is demonstrated. Alternating peptides comprising chiral and achiral α,α-disubstituted α-amino acid units are synthesized via Ugi reaction-based polymerization technique. The circular dichroism (CD) spectra of the polymers indicate that the polymers form a prevailing preferred-handed 310-helical conformations in a polar solvent, while the polymers adopt a prevailing extended planar C5-conformation in a less polar solvent.

Three-dimensional printing of flexible polymers has attracted enormous research, showing great potential in miniaturized electronic devices and sensors. In this work, hybrid fillers of boron nitride (BN) nanoparticles and micro-diamond (D) particles in a thermoplastic polyurethane (PU) matrix is three-dimensional printed to produce thermal conductive and electrical insulating substrates. The highly flexible three-dimensional printed construct demonstrates significant enhancements in thermal and mechanical properties.

Only 5 wt% addition of the flame-retardant can endow epoxy resin (EP) with UL-94 V-0 rating. The mechanical properties of the flame-retardant EP composites are still good under the low addition.

This work presents the usage of diazo cross-linkers for the curing of acrylate-based coatings. Activation of these cross-linkers create free carbenes which are used to insert into O–H bonds, creating strong covalent linkages in the films. The composite films can be cured with blue light and provide excellent material properties, comparable to other acryl coatings.
